Funtography #2: Broken Photos

So my camera seems no longer capable of taking normal pictures. I tested the camera by taking a few random shots. It is indeed broken. However, the resulting test photographs display a cool, abstract and graphic quality:

Before my camera failed as a functional fabtraption, these were the final pictures to come out normally:

Gesture Drawing: Samurai Flautist pt. 1

This guy actually played the flute while he posed. Lots of fun. He also really killed people with his sword and took his life honorably at the end.

The Failed Magician

Mike Lester is a very talented and funny story artist at DreamWorks (and fellow Lost aficionado). Great guy. I support him and the magic he attempts. However, my fellow trainees think otherwise. Long story short, one day, Mike attempted failed magic trick after failed magic trick until finally giving up and drawing this hilarious picture. Note: That day Mike also had me talk to his mom on the phone, hence the reference.

Gesture Drawing: '50s Housewife pt.1

Awesome model. She had very expressive poses, most of which I did not do justice. Luckily, there were a few decent ones.

Figure Drawing Frenzy 7.5

I've just started taking a Caricature class at DreamWorks. I'm only two sessions in, but I've already learned a lot of helpful tips. I'll share them later, along with work I do in class. 'Til then, some figure drawing:

Story Studies #1

My mentor, Tron Mai, told me that one way to expand my story knowledge is to do quick studies of movies. I don't know why I never did this before, it is VERY helpful. Tron said to watch scenes without sound so you can concentrate on the shots: composition, staging, cutting, etc. Hopefully, my laziness will subside and this will be the first of many. Can you guess the film?

A Happy New Year Indeed!

Had a great first week of the New Year! The fun times I've already had this year include drinking wine and playing "Settlers of Catan" with friends, watching a couple of entertaining movies ("Marley & Me" and "Yes Man") and for you Saved by the Bell fans: Meeting Dennis Haskins, Mr. Belding himself!

2008 was the year...

I met fellow story trainees Matt Nealon and Diana Lafyatis. Check out the following sketches by Diana (yours truly as a panda):
